Effa N. Alonzo
VANDERWAGEN — Funeral services for Effa N. Alonzo, 67, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the Grace Bible Church in Gallup. The Rev. Jerry Yonnie will officiate. Burial will be in Vanderwagen. Visitation will be 1:30-4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Rollie Mortuary.
Alonzo died Aug. 29, 2011, in Gallup. She was born March 17, 1944, in Vanderwagen into the Blacksheep People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Alonzo graduated from Valley High School in Albuquerque in 1962. She worked at the old Rehoboth Mission Hospital as a nurse assistant. In 1965, she worked at Little Bears. She worked at T & R Tax Service and enjoyed attending church revivals and going to her grandkids’ school activities.
Survivors include her husband Raymond C. Alonzo; daughters Bernadine Cody, Ramona Alonzo, Victoria Alonzo; brothers Roger Skeets, Tony Skeets, Anderson Skeets, Richard Skeets; sisters Annie Skeets, Pauline Plummer, and Marilyn Lee; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Erwin Alonzo Sr.; parents Roger and Hanesbah Skeets Sr.; one grandson; and brother Jerry R. Skeets.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Alonzo, Magdeleno Alonzo Jr., Eric Alonzo, Joel Cody, Taylor Jones and Felix Yazzie.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Bible Church in Gallup.
Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Murphy Ewton
GALLUP — Funeral services for Murphy Gene Ewton, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the East Aztec Baptist Church in Gallup. The Rev. Gene Turk will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Ewton died Aug. 26, 2011, in Santa Fe. He was born Nov. 7, 1940, in Gallup.
Survivors include his wife Martha Ewton of Gallup; sons Glenn Ewton of Salt Lake City, and Troy Ewton of Seattle; brother Otis Ewton, of Holbrook, Ariz.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Bea Ewton and sister Glenda Griswold.
Pallbearers will be Glann Ewton, Troy Ewton, Blake Ewton, Bradley Ewton, Otis Ewton and Bill Ewton.
The family will receive relatives and friends at East Aztec Baptist Church in Gallup after services.
Helen Kohlmeyer
VANDERWAGEN — Memorial services for Helen Marie Kohlmeyer, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the Broken Arrow Bible Ranch Chapel in Vanderwagen. The Revs. Paul Kontz and John Luginbuhl will officiate.
Kohlmeyer died Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, in Gallup. She was born July 12, 1925, in Mercer, Pa.
Kohlmeyer attended Mercer High School and was an RN and supervisor at Bashline-Rossmen Hospital in Grove City, Pa. She was also a camp nurse at Broken Arrow Bible Ranch, a retired missionary member of the Native Bible Fellowship Church. Kohlmeyer loved spending time with her great-grandchildren, reading and quilting.
Survivors include her husband Paul Kohlmeyer; daughter Ann Kontz; brother Clyde Worley; sister Mary Daly; four grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Kohlmeyer was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Bessie Worley and sister Edna Rodgers.
Donations may be made to provide camper scholarships at Broken Arrow Bible Ranch.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Robert Lee Sr.
NASCHITTI — Services for Robert Raymond Lee Sr., 75, will be announced at a later date.
Lee died Sept. 1, 2011, in Gallup. He was born April 23, 1936, in Mexican Springs into the Near the Water People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents John and Nanabah Lee, of Mexican Springs.
There will be a family and friends meeting at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at the Mexican Springs Chapter House.
Lawrence Singer
CHINLE, Ariz. — Funeral services for Lawrence Bryne Singer, 44, were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Memorial Baptist in Chinle, Ariz. Steve Snow officiated. Burial was in Nazlini Cemetery.
Singer died Aug. 8, 2011, in Flagstaff, Ariz. He was born Aug. 27, 1966, in Duluth, Minn.
Singer attended Rincon High School in Tucson, Ariz.
Survivors include his sons Victor Singer, of Denver, and Jesse Singer, of Chinle, Ariz.; parents James and Boni Thuett, of Denver, Leonard Singer, of Chinle; brothers Leonard Singer Jr., of Riverside, Calif., and Jamime Thuett, of Denver; and stepbrothers and stepsisters, of Chinle Ariz.
Pallbearers were Monty M. Singer, Jamie Thuett, Charlie Billie and Leonard B. Singer Jr.
The family received relatives and friends at the Nazlini Chapter House.
